The National Youth Agency Brief: Improving advice skills

A new three-day course for information and advice workers, personal advisers, youth workers and others providing advice to young people, focusing on the essential skills necessary for giving good-quality advice, has been arranged by Youth Access, the national membership organisation for young people's information, advice, counselling and support services.

Day 1 (6 July) covers understanding your role in advice work; day 2 (20 July) interviewing, problem solving and advocacy; and day 3 (21 September) confidentiality, information sharing and case recording. Pract- itioners attending all three days will get a certificate and those buying two days of training get the third free.
