NYA development officer Wendy Flint said: "Responsibility for quality assurance is based on self-assessment and rests with the local authority or organisation who will determine whether its local award fits the criteria and can, therefore, be accepted as an accredited outcome. In some areas a regional structure may exist that can undertake a moderation function."
