The implementation date for the new criteria is April 2006. It is hoped that a six- month lead in time will enable authorities to, where appropriate, amend their local awards to fit within the new criteria.
In developing the criteria the intention is to ensure that local awards have the potential to be recognised within future national accreditation structures while remaining "fit for purpose" in youth work terms.
The NYA is also in the process of redrafting its booklets Credit Where It's Due and Frequently Asked Questions to take account of the introduction of the Best Value Performance Indicators 221a and 221b, which refer to accredited and recorded outcomes.
