The council celebrated its achievement of the Hear by Right Advanced Standard with a best practice seminar with The National Youth Agency designed to showcase Hear by Right to other local authorities on Tuesday 20 December 2005. The young people and NYA representatives who were involved in the assessment process were on hand to explain how the council had reached this stage.
Councillor Shireen Ritchie, cabinet member for family and children's services, said: "Embracing Hear by Right is a 'win-win' situation for councils and young people. Their active involvement in our decision-making means they become a greater part of the community and our services become more responsive and therefore more effective. On top of this, young people gain excellent life and employment skills. And with 92 per cent of young people saying they are satisfied with our services, we are certainly confident we are moving in the right direction."
