The Law

If I were in charge of the law, I would make it illegal to smoke in cars that have children in them. When driving in a car, an adult has the choice to light up a cigarette. But what choice does the child have?

Research shows that if the same amount of carbon dioxide in a smoky car after one cigarette were in a building a fireman would have to wear breathing apparatus when entering it.

I'm running a campaign on the Channel 4 campaigning website www.battlefront.co.uk called You Smoke, I Choke. It's about getting MPs and the public to start seeing this issue from a child's perspective and how damaging it is to their health. I hope to show how ridiculous it is to even think of lighting up in a car when you have a child in it. Many people have argued already that we are always getting told what we can and cannot do - but I passionately believe that this is one law that does need passing.
