Brent South MP Paul Boateng is pictured with four-year-olds Monique Braithwaite, Aleah Reeves and Reece Juhnstone at the opening of the Fawood children's centre in Stonebridge, northwest London. The 2.3m centre, funded by Brent council and Stonebridge Housing Action Trust with support from Sure Start and the Big Lottery Fund, caters for children aged two to five and those with special needs. The exterior of the centre is made with mesh, allowing children to play "outdoors" whatever the weather.
It will also offer health and family support services for the community and includes a science garden and the largest sandpit in Brent.
