Teenagers offer advice to police

1 min read Youth Justice
Young people in a London borough are to advise the police on youth issues on a regular basis.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest has established a youth independent advisory group to work with police on issues relating to young people.

The group of 15 young people on the panel are all aged between 14 and 19 and have all been victims, witnesses or perpetrators of crime.

The youth group is holding a training session today (24 September) with police recruits to give advice and accounts of stop and search procedures.

The aim was to make sure that the recruits are aware of how their actions, language and tone towards a young person during a stop and search procedure has a significant impact on the trust of the young person and the success of the operation.
