An upcoming UN conference on climate change presents an opportunity to discuss the issue with young people, who rate the environment as one of their main concerns.

World leaders are set to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen next month in a bid to address global warming. Among those keeping a close eye on events will be many young people in the UK who, according to recent surveys, rate climate change as one of their main concerns.

Three-quarters of young people said they were worried about climate change, according to the campaign group Friends of the Earth.

Another survey, published by the volunteering charity V this summer, found that 88 per cent of 16- to 24-year-olds recognised that climate change will impact on their lives within the next 50 years. Three-quarters of those surveyed by V said it was important they did something personally, such as volunteering on climate change projects.
