Many adults complain about children being allowed into pubs. Start a discussion with young people about whether parents should have the right to take their children into pubs.

According to the findings of the UK's Good Pub Guide, adults are complaining more and more about their pub visits being spoiled by badly behaved children. Some of its readers have likened visiting pubs to drinking in a creche or playschool, and have experienced parents who turn aggressive when asked to keep their young children in order. A massive 90 per cent of pubs in the Good Pub Guide are child-friendly. But are pubs places for children?

Start a discussion about whether children should be allowed in pubs. Are pubs an appropriate environment for children? Think about why parents might want to take children to pubs. Is it selfish of them? Is it just an excuse for parents to booze while looking after their children? Should they find somewhere more suitable to take them?
