Green Party leader Caroline Lucas made general election history this month after being elected as MP for Brighton Pavilion and winning the party's first parliamentary seat. Through its policies the Green Party promotes social and environmental justice, and gaining this seat could be seen as a step closer to getting more environmental issues on the political agenda.
How much do young people know about environmental issues? The recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico could be one of the worst environmental disasters in history. How do young people think we can stop things like this from happening? How should companies responsible for such disasters be held accountable? Ask young people to consider their responsibility towards the environment. Small things such as turning off the tap when you're brushing your teeth, washing clothes at 30 degrees and using energy-saving light bulbs require little effort but could make all the difference.
