Sustainable schooling - Solar panel to help environment

Dre Solanke, Amoura James and Bethany-Joy Robertson are among pupils at Stillness Infants and Junior School in Lewisham, southeast London, who are doing their bit for the environment.

They are pictured in front of a photovoltaic solar panel display, which shows how much electricity and carbon dioxide they are saving. Lewisham council, awarded beacon status for its commitment to sustainable energy, worked with Powergen, the Department for Trade and Industry and energy-recovery company SELCHP to develop the scheme.
