Support service opens in Lewisham

A substance misuse service has opened in Lewisham, south London, to provide support to young people suspected of misusing drugs or alcohol.

The Young People's Substance Misuse Service will offer a range of services, including outreach work in schools and colleges, group work, one-to-one treatment and counselling.

Young people will also receive support for issues such as housing, health and nutrition, money, education and employment. In addition, the service will offer support to parents and carers of young people affected by drug or alcohol misuse.

Councillor Helen Klier, cabinet member for children and young people for Lewisham, said: "The service will provide a much-needed lifeline for parents who may be at their wits' end."
