Strong Foundation: Work on a Hemel Hempstead children's centrebegins

Children show their approval as the foundations for a new children's centre in Hemel Hempstead are laid.

Construction work on the 605,000 centre is due to be completed inMay.

Once up and running the centre will offer nursery services from 8am to8pm throughout the year. Hertfordshire County Council, Heath LaneNursery and South Hill Church, which runs a pre-school project, arebankrolling the development. "We've always had strong links with thechurch pre-school," said Angela Bratton, head teacher at Heath LaneNursery. "By sharing our resources we will strengthen these bonds andbecome a focal point for the local community."
