The Co-operative StreetGames Volunteering Programme has received a £212,000 funding boost from youth volunteering charity v to help young people get involved in teaching sport.
In the past two years the Co-operative has given more than £170,000 to the national StreetGames charity to develop the comprehensive volunteer training programme for 600 young people aged 16 to 25.
The cash from v means the programme can now be rolled out across the UK.
Jane Ashworth, StreetGames chief executive, said the programme would contribute significantly to the delivery of StreetGames regional festivals, where children who play little or no sport at all are encouraged to compete in a range of activities.
