The programme will be expanded over the next 12 months after the trust and its partner, NatWest Cricket, announced last week that they were putting another 205,000 into the scheme. The aim is to work with about 500 16- to 25-year-olds.
The Team cricket programme is a 12-week course working with the 14 county cricket clubs in England. Young people visit the clubs, have motivational talks with the players, and sessions on health, fitness and diet, as well as cricket coaching.
By learning to work together as a team, the young people acquire skills that will help them find a job. The trust said that four out of five participants in Team programmes, which also cover other subjects, find work.
