Sport: Hampshire scheme wins BBC donations

1 min read

Testway 7s provides qualified coaches to run activities during school holidays to harness peer pressure, provide strong role models and incentives to cut antisocial behaviour. The programme culminates in a finals day, prize giving and a party.

Last year, Testway 7s, which is run by social landlord Testway Housing, helped reduce reported incidents of youth nuisance on local estates by 54 per cent.

The grant will fund Dave Kane in the new role of sports development co-ordinator, working with six- to 15-year-olds. Kane said: "I'm looking forward to getting stuck into this role. It's a privilege to work with so many fantastic young people and to see them develop new skills." The deadline for the next round of Children in Need grant applications is 30 March.
