Social inclusion: Brighton team sets up football project

The Brighton and Hove Albion Football Inclusion Project, which started last week, aims to work with 1,500 young people aged between eight and 19 every week. The project is working with the police, youth support services, youth offending teams and the council to target young offenders, young people in care, young people at risk of truancy, and other excluded groups.

The club started a pilot football project in the Moulsecoomb area of Brighton three years ago. Steve Ford, community affairs manager at the club, said: "We identified a need for this kind of programme so we approached the Football Foundation. We felt we could do more."
