Marriott Hotels in London and the Southeast hosted young people from xl clubs from 17 to 23 May. The clubs help young people at risk of truancy and exclusion to improve their school attendance, building confidence and motivation.
Participants experienced a range of jobs in the hospitality industry, and learned about CV writing and interview skills. They were also given a guided tour of operations at 10 of the chain's hotels.
One participant said: "Before joining xl, I didn't enjoy school at all, but I heard that xl was a lot of fun, so I got involved and I don't miss classes anymore."
