9% of looked-after children placed more than 20 miles from home (18 per cent in England)

- 12.3% of looked-after children with three or more placements in2004/05 (13 per cent in England)

- 53% of young people left care aged 16 or over with at least one GCSEor GNVQ (50 per cent in England)

- 85.9% of children and young people communicated their views at theirlatest statutory review (81 per cent in England)

In December 2005 the Commission for Social Care Inspection saidWakefield council was serving most children well and rated its capacityto improve children's social services as promising.
