Social Care News: Out-of-hours work - Worries after split from adult care

Social service departments are still grappling with how to structure out-of-hours provision following the split of adult and children's services.

Dr Ray Jones, chair of the Assembly for Social Care and Social Work Education, Training and Research, said: "I haven't a clue how it could go. It could go in a number of different directions." His comments follow concerns raised by delegates at last week's Community Care Live conference.

"I'm concerned about the future of out-of-hours teams when we start specialising and going down our own routes," said one.
