The Children's Commissioning Support Resource aims to improve theprocess of placing looked-after children by keeping a national record ofall vacancies in relevant services including foster placements,children's homes and special schools.
It will be available to all 22 local authorities in Wales and is beingfunded for its first three years by the Welsh Assembly Government. Theproject is also backed by the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales, theWelsh Local Government Association and the Association of Directors ofSocial Services.
"Is quite ambitious but has more chances of working because it is beingrun centrally," said Philip Sutton, development worker at The FosteringNetwork and spokesman for its National Independent Fostering Providers'Forum.
