Social Care news: Looked-After Children - Teenagers have say in 1m care home

Looked-after teenagers will form part of a steering committee to take forward plans for a new 1m care home.

Former residents at Haslam House in Harrow, which is due to be demolished in the coming weeks, will have a say in the way it is furnished and decorated.

The young people have already played an integral part in the building's design (Children Now, 30 June-6 July) and it will feature a cyber-cafe and a games room.

Paul Clark, Harrow council's director of children's services, said the new home was a flagship project for the authority, which will go on to revamp its other two children's homes.
