Social Care News: Funding - Ministers ignore foster care report

The Government has said it does not intend to take specific steps to implement the recommendations made in a major report on foster care.

In July, the Cost of Foster Care report by the British Association forAdoption & Fostering and the Fostering Network said 748m of extrafunding was needed to provide a quality service for children (ChildrenNow, 13-19 July).

But the junior schools minister Lord Adonis told peers last week thatthe Government has already announced significant additional funding forchildren's social services.

A Fostering Network spokeswoman said she was disappointed.
