Social Care News: Foster carers - Councils join forces to tackle shortage

Three local authorities in the North West have teamed up to tackle the region's shortage of foster carers.

Halton, St Helens and Warrington councils are pooling their resources and have enlisted the support of rugby league clubs in the towns for the fostering4me campaign. More than 1,800 foster carers are needed in the Northwest, their campaign says.

The Fostering Network said it would encourage local authorities to work together in recruitment campaigns.

Its new recruitment campaign co-ordinator, Helen Clarke, is working with local authorities to address recruitment issues and wants to talk to them about the ways they can co-operate.
