Social Care News: Foster care - Council recruitment schemes a success

A recruitment campaign for foster parents in Leicester is being hailed a success after the council received three times the normal number of inquiries.

Last month it dealt with 114 inquiries. The fostering team only needs 40 new carers this year.

Meanwhile, Halton Council in Cheshire is launching a scheme under which all its foster carers and adopters will be rewarded for introducing families and friends to the service.

The Fostering Network has announced that this year's foster care fortnight will run from 10-23 May. Fostering services around the country will use events and publicity to encourage prospective carers to come forward.
