The work, by the Children's Workforce Development Council, is supportedby a reference group and includes representatives from the FosteringNetwork and fostering agencies.
The standards will support foster carers from approval, through thefirst two years of fostering, and be accompanied by informationincluding a guide and workbook.
A consultation will take place between 1 February and 16 March and thestandards will be launched during Fostering Fortnight in May.
Robert Tapsfield, chief executive of the Fostering Network, said: "Thisis a key part of the work to transform the workforce and ensure fostercarers and others are better placed to transform the lives of thechildren."
