Social Care News: Family court - Workers' evidence training notgood

Social workers need more training on how to present evidence in family courts, according to the NSPCC.

Speaking at a meeting of the Conservatives' Social Work Commission, EnidHendry, director of training and consultancy services at the NSPCC, saidsocial workers need court skills to be part of professionaldevelopment.

She said: "People are not getting the investment they need to get thelevel of skills they need to go into court so they can stand alongsideexpert witnesses."

Also discussed at the commission, chaired by shadow children's ministerTim Loughton, was the role of volunteers working with social workers,how training should be developed and recruitment of social workers.
