Social Care: Caldecott revamps halfway homes

Social Care
Young people who have suffered neglect and abuse will be able to benefit from newly refurbished halfway homes in Kent.

The Caldecott Foundation has undertaken a £130,000 project to improve its residential homes Willow Trees and Lacton Lodge at its headquarters in Smeeth near Ashford in Kent.

Donations of £50,000 from The Garfield West Foundation and Stavros Niarchos Foundation helped it complete the work. The homes give young people making the transition to foster care, independent living or back to their family somewhere to prepare.

A spokesman for the foundation said: "These are houses where they learn everything from how to cook a meal to managing their personal finances."
