Sexual Health: Brook to offer text service to young

The charity's information service - Ask Brook - already includes a confidential helpline, online enquiry facility and automated text service and is contacted by 20,000 young people a year.

But Brook hopes to attract a larger audience, including more young men, through the personalised text service being developed with a 90,000 grant from the Vodafone UK Foundation.

In April last year the Samaritans launched a personalised, confidential text service that, although still in its pilot stage, has received more than 170,000 texts. A spokesman said: "We know from the nature of the texts that it is mainly young people that are using it."
