Services for disabled children living away from home

I would make sure every child had access to an advocate, then the child would have someone else to act for them, especially when we don't feel able to do it for ourselves or when by speaking out we can cause big problems in our placement.

When social workers make decisions, unless we are very strong we cannot argue and making decisions about things like moving us to other placements without justifiable reasons when we are happy and have formed attachments is a time when we need advocates' help, advice and support.

Another thing I would definitely do is make sure all special needs children have the right to stay in care until they're 21 and not be forced into supported lodgings at 18.

I would also make sure every child has the chance to have an independent visitor so they could spend time with the child and get to know all the family, not just me.
