Scouts come to the rescue of walkers

A group of 13- and 14-year-old Scouts gave emergency assistance to a group of walkers on an expedition in Snowdonia last month.

The Scouts came across a group that had collapsed from hypothermia while doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award. They made shelters and their leaders gave emergency aid as they waited for help.

Chris Foster, spokesman for the Scout Association, said: "Scouts are trained up to do these things and they had the knowledge and skills to help. The leaders were really impressed with how calm they were and are really proud of them."
