I and three other deaf young people went with the National Deaf Children's Society to the government's international conference on cyberspace this month.

We were there with other young people from the UK to talk about our views on the future of the internet and online safety.

We met Foreign Secretary William Hague, other ministers and representatives from Facebook and Telefonica.

My favourite moment was when I addressed the conference. I wanted to get across that deaf young people should be able to enjoy web access as much as other people do, but at the moment we can’t because so few videos have subtitles and it’s really frustrating.

We talked about how important it is that advice about staying safe online needs to be made accessible to deaf young people, like making sure videos on privacy settings have subtitles.
