The plans are under consideration for inclusion in the party's manifestoahead of next year's Scottish Parliament elections amid a lack ofenthusiasm for implementing Asbos and dispersal orders by somecouncils.
But the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities has condemned the movesaying that Asbos are just one option and councils should be left toaddress anti-social behaviour in other ways, such as through communityprojects and outreach work.
Eric Jackson, the convention's social care and health improvementspokesman and a Labour councillor in East Ayrshire, said: "It is crucialto address anti-social behaviour, but there are many successful schemesthat don't use Asbos. I would have great concerns about any system thatmeasures the success of a council in addressing anti-social behaviourpurely on the number of Asbos it has handed out."
