Scotland: Mental health skills must be a training priority

1 min read

The Mental Heath of Children and Young People: A Framework for Promotion, Prevention and Care is designed for use as a self-assessment tool to help everybody working with young people develop integrated services.

The multi-agency document has been developed by the Scottish Executive's Child and Maternal Health Unit, in partnership with HeadsUpScotland, its national project for child and adolescent mental health. It sets out how all professionals and voluntary staff can contribute to young people's mental wellbeing.

Youth workers are expected to play a major part in rolling out the framework. The Scottish Executive is providing 1m over the next two years to help implementation.
