Scotland: Costs of childcare continue to rocket

Childcare costs in Scotland are increasing at almost double the rate of those in England and five times that of Wales.

A survey published by the Daycare Trust and Children in Scotland foundthat the cost of an average nursery place for a child under the age oftwo has increased by 10 per cent since last year. Prices have gone upfrom 132 to 146 a week.

In England and Wales prices went up by six per cent and two per centrespectively (Children Now, 31 January-6 February).
