Scotland: Commissioner beefs up her team

Scotland's children's commissioner has made three senior appointments as she gears up for a move into new offices.

Kathleen Marshall has recruited a chief officer, head of policy and head of participation and is also looking for communications, research, information and enquiries officers.

Marshall, who was appointed as commissioner last April, has brought in Elizabeth Foster as chief officer. She was previously director of Family Mediation Scotland, an umbrella organisation that promotes and supports local family mediation services.

She is joined at the commissioner's office by Maire McCormack, formerly parliamentary liaison officer for Edinburgh City Council. In her post of head of policy she will develop links with the voluntary sector.

The commissioner's new head of participation is Stephen Bermingham. He has previously worked for Save the Children, the Scottish Youth Parliament and Edinburgh Youth Social Inclusion Partnership.
