Scotland's Justice 1 Committee, one of eight committees established by the Scottish Executive to report on administration, has proposed the amendments to the protection of children and prevention of sexual offences bill after consultation with youth workers and other groups. Section 2 (3) of the bill prohibits giving a child anything that relates to sexual activity or contains a reference to such activity.
Alex Cole-Hamilton, policy and communications officer at Fairbridge in Scotland, which took part in the Justice 1 consultation, said: "My concern is that the language (in the bill) is very generalist. There isn't much distinction made between paedophilia and sexual advice."
