The organisation's remit includes acting as an agency for employers wanting to recruit school-leavers. But from 1 April, the organisation will focus its efforts on improving young people's employability skills.
Julie-Anne Jamieson, Careers Scotland's head of employability, said: "We do not believe that administering a small number of job vacancies is providing young people with the support they actually require." Advisers will produce an action plan for each young person, with follow-up support to ensure that they sustain their employment. It will also provide initiatives such as WorkNet, a motivational programme that helps young people choose the right career path.
