School Meals: Stricter measures in member's Bill

Backbench Labour MP Mary Creagh was expected to formally launch her Children's Food Bill as Children Now went to press.

The private members' Bill goes further than the measures recentlyoutlined by the Government and calls for minimum nutritional standardsto be extended to school breakfasts, a ban on the advertising of junkfood and the introduction of cooking skills in the nationalcurriculum.

The Bill is due for its second reading in the House of Commons on 28October.
