Rural Action with Families in Tynedale (Raft) offers services including a play bus that supports isolated families.
But the charity plans to close the project on 31 March 2005 because it has been unable to get funding promises for the next financial year.
The charity has put up 150,000, almost half the project's running costs, in the current financial year but can't continue to subsidise it to that extent. The project has in the past received help from Northumberland County Council.
Raft's five full-time staff are likely to lose their jobs if it closes.
The council said it had "not cut any ongoing funding". It had provided 30,000 a year for the project to rent premises, but had been told by Raft that this would not be appropriate for the mobile service it provided.
