Room to Grow: Sure Start nursery expands its childcare to takebabies

A Sure Start nursery in Sunderland has expanded and is now offering 12 extra childcare places for babies.

Debbie Jones and her son Archie are pictured in the new baby room atThorney Close Sure Start, which can accommodate 12 babies from threemonths up to two years old. It has a special sensory area, which isdesigned to promote child development and provide a calm and relaxingenvironment for babies. Lynn Biggins, childcare centre manager atThorney Close Sure Start, said: "We are delighted to be extending ourexisting, high-quality day care by creating a superb new facility. Theearly years are a crucial stage in a child's development and we foundthat there was a need in the area for this type of service."
