Project: Rolling Sound
Funding: £10,000 from Lambeth Council
Aim: Teach young people new skills and reduce antisocial behaviour
Children and young people have been designing their own computer games rather than playing them, as part of Lambeth Council's arts and media programme for young people at risk of offending.
The Rolling Sound summer arts and media programme offers young people aged 11 to 15 experience in video game graphic design, music production, digital photography and other multi-media activities.
The 10 children who took part in the initiative designed their own first person computer game to play and got to take it home.
Developed by Lambeth Council's Youth Offending Team (YOT), the programme is largely computer-based but also involves day trips designed to inspire creative flair.
