Driving while uninsured can have terrible consequences. If there is no third-party insurance, innocent road users can be left coping with injuries, damaged vehicles and a hefty financial loss.

Uninsured drivers have been found to be more likely to drive carelessly, cause crashes and be involved with other criminal activity. So it is not surprising that the Government has decided to introduce measures including crushing cars and increasing fines for driving while uninsured.

What do young people think? Are they aware of the problems caused by uninsured drivers? Do they think the one in 20 drivers estimated to be driving without insurance understand the dangers they present for others? Will stiffer penalties help discourage them?
