Young women are far less likely to have serious crashes than young men.

There were 276 deaths and injuries last year among women drivers aged 17 to 19, compared with 869 among males. Discuss why this is. What makes some young men dangerous drivers?

Government research suggests that young people think the driving test has little relation to the experience of driving. Talk about why some young people say the rules of the road are often irrelevant.

One idea under consideration is to start driver education while young people are still at school. Would it help to introduce young people to the rules and dangers of driving much earlier?
