The euro argument can be complicated and passionate. Even the smallest facts are hotly disputed. Try to sort out the two main strands: political and economic.

Economic arguments look at what is best for the financial health of the UK. Joining the euro or staying out will affect exchange rates and interest rates. These in turn will affect industry, jobs and investment. Some people argue that if we are not properly part of Europe, then we will be sidelined and will consequently miss out on vital business. Others say that we already have all the advantages of trade with Europe, and much of the UK's international trade is outside Europe anyway. Although economics is a science, experts often disagree about forecasts.
