A teacher who hits or even touches a student may be charged with physical assault. Depending on the circumstances, it might even be regarded as a sexual assault. The biggest teachers' union says that increasing numbers of teachers are victims of malicious allegations from young people. They are backed by an all-party committee of MPs that says CCTV cameras in the classroom would help reduce the strain on falsely accused teachers.
