Being under surveillance means having information about your movements and activities recorded and saved. The information is then used by governments or other organisations to plan services or laws. Talk about smart cards and biometrics, emails and internet use, spending receipts and calls to service centres. How many different ways of recording information do young people know about?

Ask for young people's views on street cameras. If ones fitted with microphones were introduced, would young people feel the same? Explore any differences.

Some parents will use webcams and global satellite systems to check on their teenagers' movements and activities. Does this indicate a lack of trust? How much does this matter to young people?
