But only about seven out of 10 people claimed to be Christian in the latest census. Far fewer actively practise the religion. Talk about how much the religious part of Christmas matters to the typical British person.
Some schools stage nativity plays and hold carol concerts. Discuss how relevant these are in modern Britain. Do young people think there should be a certain proportion of active Christians in a school before Christmas is part of the school activities? Or should everyone be instructed in the nativity story, whatever their own beliefs?
