Debit card company Switch estimates that people in the UK will spend an average of 868 each on Christmas this year.
Consumers told researchers they expect to spend an average of 346 on gifts. More than a third said they would blow at least 500 on presents. They'll buy 115 worth of food and spend 64 on drink. The rest will go on Christmas cards, accessories and decorations.
The most expensive pressies are bought for children. On average people buy gifts for 12 members of their family or friends.
