What do young people think about the record-breaking public donations of cash? The sums raised in the UK seem to have surprised and shamed the Government, which increased the amount it pledged for aid. Do young people feel proud of the generosity of the public?
Some people have argued there should have been a special levy on all taxpayers. Then everyone would contribute equally, instead of some giving generously while others sit on their wallets. Would this be fairer? Studies show that poorer people give a larger proportion of their income to charity than wealthier people do. Talk about possible reasons for this.
